Lighting and Makeup Application

Ever notice how your makeup looks drastically different from the time you apply it in the bathroom to when you step out into the bright light of day?

To ensure your foundation and color choices are true to your skin tone, try installing full spectrum light bulbs in your bathroom or wherever you apply your makeup.

These light bulbs mimic natural daylight; allowing the true color of your cosmetics to come out instead of seeing the yellowish cast that incandescent bulbs can often give.

Locals cancontact me and I will do a one on one consult with you so you know you have the correct colors.

Puffy eyes
Don't let late nights ruin your day! For a quick puffy eye fix, try soakingtwo teabags in cold water and apply to closed eyes for 10 minutes. Thetannins in the tea will help reduce swelling and redness, erasing theeffects of the night before.

Beauty Tools

Utilize make up brushes for application when possible.

These can easily be washed, spritzed with disinfectant, and safely used over and over again.

Sponge applicators quickly harbor a breeding ground for bacteria.

Keep separate brushes for products to prevent dark color residue from destroying an intended lightening effect.

Greater blending can be accomplished with a 100% cotton ball, swab, or pad. Poly blend cotton products will only smear. True blending requires the cotton to absorb the excess cosmetics which a synthetic fiber will not do.

Remedy for Oily Hair

There are ways you can help stop the grease from appearing but you have to work at it.
Do not wash everyday. The cleaner your hair is the more it can seep into your glands and harderit is to get rid of. When you do wash make sure you are washing with a cleaning shampoo and scrubbing the build up off. Take in mind that you also have to have a ph-balanced mild shampoo and lite scrubbing is recommended. Try to avoid conditioner at the roots, apply in the middle or on the ends.

Try to avoid oil in your daily food intake. And do eat more vegetables. You could visit your doctor but only after you check and consider your diet, drugs, alcohol, and your fatty food intake.

Maybe it's time to change your shampoo. Ask your stylist what she or he would recommend. Avoidusing shine products at all costs. Keep away from two-in-one shampoos and conditioners and any frizz serums.

To fix at the moment, rub a little Talcum Powder on your dried hair at the roots. Just makesure you wash it out. I wish they would event that magic product, but this will help untilthey do.

Winter Skin Care

When the temperature begins to drop, it's time to to update your skin care routine. Colder weather and brisk winds outside, together with dry heat inside, makes for an ever-changing environment that can create a seriously confused face! Combination or oily skin can turn dry and flaky, and already-dry skin needs extra care to protect and soothe it.

A few changes you can make to keep your skin happy and healthy all winter long.

Drink Water!

In winter, it's important that you drink lots of water to moisturize your skin from the inside out. Aim for 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. Not a fan of drinking cold water when the temperature drops? Add a slice of lemon to warm water for a drink that is not only refreshing, but helps to cleanse your system as well.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

Moisturising after cleansing (at morning and at night) with a hydrating moisturiser is vital to keeping your winter skin glowing and smooth. In the cooler months, it pays to switch to a slightly richer moisturiser to combat the ravaging effects of the cold, drying winds and central heating. For your body, slathering on a rich cream keeps skin soft and feels great. When choosing a facial moisturizer for winter, proceed with care when buying a richer formula, because if it's too greasy it could cause breakouts on even the driest skin.

Exfoliate with Care.

Braving the biting cold winds, then moving into a heated environment has a very drying effect on the skin. Exfoliating is important to remove layers of dead skin, allowing new skin cells to emerge. But choose your products with care - gritty facial scrubs might be fine in the summer when skin tends to be oilier and more resilient, but during the winter, reach for gentler products. Also never exfoliate more than once a week in winter, as delicate facial skin needs a rest between scrubs.

Give Your Skin Special Treatment.

Winter skin needs extra care, and a hydrating facial mask is a great way to add moisture back to the skin. It's also a nice way to pamper yourself! Choose a mask that replenishes the moisture you lose from being outside, or from too much dry heat inside.

Cleanse Gently.

Winter is the time to be using a very gentle cleanser on facial skin. "Gentle" means that it doesn't burn or sting, and it doesn't leave your face feeling taut or dry. Choose a cleanser that takes off all of your makeup and rinses off easily with lukewarm water. For this time of year, unless your face is very oily, consider using a lotion or milky cleanser rather than one that foams or lathers (foaming agents can strip the moisture out of your skin).

If You Must Tone, Be Cautious.

Not everyone needs a toner, and unless your skin is quite oily you should skip it altogether in the wintertime. If you do have oily skin that stays oily through the winter, and you want to keep using toner, be sure your toner does not contain alcohol. Find one that contains witch hazel instead - it will clean your skin thoroughly, but not harshly.
